The Objectives of St. James Lutheran School To Honor, Glorify, and Obey God By:
Director
Mrs. Susan Mitchum directs St. James Lutheran School. To introduce myself to you, I would share that I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Winthrop University. I retired from education two years ago, having worked 28 of my 34 years in Sumter District Two. I have taught students in grade 2 through college freshmen, as well as graduate classes for teachers through Converse College. Most of my years in District Two were in the Gifted and Talented Program, where I served the last 10 years as Coordinator of the program. Over several years, my administrative position also included Fine Arts and Foreign Languages. From about the time I was eight, I felt that education was my calling. I love children and I love learning. So perhaps, as the Lord guided me through the experiences of those past years, He did not intend for me to retire; instead, He was also preparing me to serve here at St. James.
