FROM THE PASTOR
At St. James, we are a people who believe that God is at work in this world and that way back in 1890 He called together a group of faithful people to organize a Lutheran church in Sumter. Through the years, this church has continued to be a place where faith is nurtured and people of God are equipped to serve.
We believe that God is still at work today – prompting His people with His Spirit to find meaning and joy in life. If you are looking for a church home, or if you are just curious and want to know more about the Lutheran faith or St. James Lutheran Church in particular, we invite you to come and visit with us at St. James. Come and see. Here we strive to learn and grow in the Christian faith; we enjoy the friendship and fellowship of all who gather; and we seek to be God’s instruments who do His bidding, who give witness to His benevolence, and who share his light with the world.
"May the Lord bless you and keep you. May he make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. May he look upon you with favor and give you peace."
Welcome! Come and see!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Keith Getz

FROM THE CONGREGATIONAL PRESIDENT
St. James Lutheran Church is a warm and welcoming community of faith; living in grace from God and grace for each other. As you look at these pages, I hope you get a sense of all that God is doing among us.
We have a vibrant music program and dynamic worship services. There is a wonderful school providing Christian education and after school and holiday care. But mostly we have people full of joy and laughter and hope, living in the grace of God. We warmly invite you to join our family of faith.
If you want to know more about St. James, or if we can assist you in any way, please speak to Pastor Albert or any member of our congregation council.
Welcome in Christ's Name,
